As a youngster I wanted to be a librarian because that would give me the opportunity to read all day long.
Well that’s what Mrs. Opal Early did – or at least it seemed that’s what she did. She was librarian of our little Dunnellon Library back in the 1960’s.
Sometimes she would read aloud to us youngsters during story hour.
In high school I even got to work in the library. Ruth Riley was our librarian there.
Somewhere along the way I got sidetracked from the librarian career and went into the newspaper business. Now reading is only a hobby.
I recently finished reading “Furious Love,” the story of the marriage of the Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton. The book was written by Sam Kashner and Nancy Schoenberger.
Perhaps I was a bit too young to fully appreciate the book because there were many, many mentions of movies I never saw. There were twice as many mentions to the numbers of fights the two had. I was reminded to two spoil brats trying to get there way.
If you are fans of Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor – then read the book. If you are not a fan of those two look for something better to read.
So what are you reading? Let us know what you’re reading, why and what you think of the book at editor@westmarionmessenger.com
