Ocala National to host tourney

-A A +A

Golden Hills changes name

The newly branded Ocala National Golf Club in Ocala, formerly known as Golden Hills Golf and Country Club, is a Rees Jones re-design, and the former USGA Championship host is referenced as one of the top layouts on the NGA Tour schedule. Ocala National was the site of Ted Potter Jr.’s last NGA Tour Pro Series win before going on to win at golf’s top level.

The NGA pro tour (formerly called the Hooters Tour), which has launched numerous golfers into PGA Tour success, is slated to play a 72-hole championship at Ocala National on April 3-6.

Ocala National offers a unique and challenging course routing through century-old oak trees. Beginning at the first tee looking down to an approachable green, the golf course guides players through dramatic slopes, challenging bunkers, and fantastic vistas. Ocala National golf course encourages new heights of skill from the novice to the professional. Stan Cooke, GM, Director of Golf said, “We are honored, and excited to host the event again this year and encourage Marion County residents to come out and enjoy this fantastic event.”

In June 2012, Citrus Hills Golf and Country Club acquired Ocala National Golf Club, and now welcomes members and the general public with the opportunity to experience this magnificent facility that for the past 50 years was accessible to members only.
