A man was killed late July 18 while attempting to push a disabled car on State Road 40 near Southwest 60th Avenue, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Authorities reportedly pronounced Guadalupe Guillermo, 20, of Ocala, dead at the crash scene.

Three men, including Guillermo, were pushing and steering a disabled vehicle west on the outside lane of State Road 40 toward a gas station at the intersection, according to a report.

The other men were Esgar Nunez, 20, and Samuel Lopez, 21, both of Ocala.

Nunez was reportedly steering and helping push the car. Guillermo was pushing the disabled vehicle, a 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee, at its rear.

A 2014 Chevy Malibu driven by Marcus Bell, 40, of Ocala, reportedly hit Guillermo and continued heading northeast after impact before colliding into the Jeep’s  left rear. Nunez and Lopez were knocked to the ground, according to a report. The report did not indicate whether others involved in the crash were injured.

The impact sent the Jeep onto the south shoulder of the S.R. 40, facing the opposite way.

The crash remains under investigation. No additional information was available.
