Issues discussed at meeting

By Carolyn Slocumb

The annual meeting of Quail Meadow homeowners was well attended this year. This was the meeting that required at least 131 members to be present in order to have the election and vote on various issues. Fortunately 147 home owners were either present or represented with a proxy vote. The new covenants were approved. The QMPOA Board members for next year are Luz DeJesus, Meri Garno, Henry Pelletier, Linda Pelletier, Herb Schmoll, Maxine Turley, and Judy Zobel,
Let’s support our Board members this year. The sandwiches were very good! Maybe having food encourages the people to attend the meetings! Brian Maguire, retiring QMPOA president, thanked everyone for their support this year. We have many volunteers who work diligently to keep this a great community. Good News: The assessment fee for 2018 will be the same as this year’s fee – no increase!
Please note: There is not a QMPOA meeting for the purpose of election of officers for next year on Dec. 20 as previously reported. This will take place at noon on Jan. 3.
The Ladies Luncheon was enjoyed by 27 QM women. This was our Christmas Holiday party held at The Braised Onion. Everyone had a great time opening gifts, enjoying the good food, and, of course, the visiting with friends and neighbors. January 12th will be the next get-together. This will be at Carrabba’s Restaurant. Make your reservations with Grace Maguire.
The calendar for 2018 is already filling up with exciting events. The first big social event at the Clubhouse will be Friday, Jan. 19. This will have a Chinese New Year theme. This is the Year of the Dog. There will be a display of photographs of your dogs! Please bring your photos to the Clubhouse on the 19th between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.. We only want photos – no dogs! Don’t laugh – we were asked if the dogs could come! Dogs are not allowed in the Clubhouse. The party will begin at 6:30 p.m. Chinese snack food will be provided. Tickets, for $6 each, are available from Grace Maguire and Judi Hargraves.
Christmas Day is just a few days away. This is a time for family and friends to get together. Let’s not forget the real reason for this holiday – the birth of Jesus.
Merry Christmas!
